Sunset on the Mont Blanc Massif
Mont Blanc (Chamonix, French Alps, France, Europe)

Some say Mt Blanc, in the French/Italian Alps, is the most visited natural attraction in the world. At about 4808m/15,770ft (its actual height depends on the amount of wind-packed snow on its summit dome), it is Europe's highest peak. Political Europe, that is, since volcano Elbrus, in Ukraine, is higher. This image, taken at sunset from the Aiguilles Rouge (red needles) massif on the other side of Chamonix valley, shows the Chamonix needles, the Plan and Midi Aiguilles, Mt Maudit, Mt Blanc, Goûter Dome and Aiguille, and below, the Bossons glacier.
