Repo the firefox

According to an ancient legend, the Northern Lights are the creation of Repo the firefox: when Repo would run in the snow, its tail would caress the snowflakes and transform them into celestial fire. In Finnish, the official name for Aurora Borealis is "fire of Repo".

Northern Lights have been associated numerous popular beliefs, and for some people, they are still linked to fertility. The scientific explanation is less romantic: solar dust, tiny particles emitted by the sun and directed by the Earth's magnetic field toward the poles, collide against the atmosphere's molecules, and the resulting energy is transformed into light.

Everyone agrees on one point though: Northern Lights are a spectacular and fascinating display of Nature's forces.
